New Clothes, Finally!

After November's Dolly Meet in Vancouver, Yuki, the host very generously gave away some dolly clothes and I was happy to pick them up!

Blythe at Christmas

I've been attending regular local Blythe meets in the Vancouver, BC area.  A really nice group of dolly lovers!

Japan's Disaster

What a terrible thing to happen!  We teach the kids at school what to do when an earthquake happens, but we hope it never does.  Living in the Ring of Fire, we have to practise regular earthquake and fire drills, complete with evacuation.  A fundraiser started today with one class sponsoring it for this week before Spring Break.

Pamplemousse

I just saw some beautiful, scaled-down fabric which is perfect for my new Blythe clothes.  I've had to keep my mind focused on report cards until today.  This has been extremely hard for me, as Simply Chocolate and S. Vanilla have only been resident for 11 days and are desperate for some new clothes.  Those horrible stock polyester dresses are UGLY!  I would love to have some of Pamplemousse's fabrics.  I'm going to check out her shop and post a link at the end of the blog page.

Check out the @blythelifecom interview with @fruityblythe for an awesome fabric giveaway! http://bit.ly/fVMIpp

The store is at http://www.etsy.com/shop/pamplemoussedoll?ref=pr_shop
Today there is just 1 listing, so I hope more will be created soon.

The Girls Went to School

Today was Friday and that means Show & Tell in my Gr. 2/3 class.  The kids like me to participate, so today I brought in my new girls.  Of course, the boys freaked out when I switched the eyes.  The red ones really got to them! LMAO  I did take the girls into the staffroom before school, to introduce them to the staff.  The men were freaked out, just like the little men in my room.  It was so funny!  They think I'm losing my mind, and I don't really try to disabuse them of that idea, either.  hee, hee

Here the two girls met some school friends, Hannah, Sydney and Ashley

Blythe Dolls Arrived Today!

Simply Chocolate, renamed Eliza, and Simply Vanilla, not renamed yet, arrived just before 3:00 at home.  I showed everyone the eye movements and they all freaked out!  The stock items are not very nice, so now I know why everyone quickly finds new outfits.  The shoes don't fit over the leotard and fall off.  The teeny earrings don't stay in, so they're all back in the boxes.  I'll have to find better footwear and experiment with the earrings.  I'll post a picture, when I find my camera charger.

Where's My Blythe?

I ordered two dolls from HobbyLink in Japan last week.  I paid for quick delivery by FedEx and a week later they're still in transit.  They were shipped on the 23rd and made it to Richmond on the 24th.  Then...they flew to Anchorage, Alaska and over to Memphis, Tennessee!  What on earth were they thinking??  So, now the dolls are in the sorting desk in Vancouver.  What a waste of time!  Good thing I'm not charged for the extra flight time.  I ordered Simply Chocolate and Simply Vanilla.  On Saturday, I drove out to Richmond to the Aberdeen Mall to check out a tip I got from TIB forum.  There were 3 Blythes but the price was steep--$189 each which is nearly what I paid for both dolls, including shipping.  I bought a box of clothes by Re-ment, but they were really tacky.  Last week, I bought some material from Fabricana to make up some clothes for the dolls.

Blythe - A New Obsession, Possibly

I was introduced to Ball Jointed Dolls by Kathleen, nearly a year ago.  I was a bit taken aback by them, actually.  However, I've been thinking about a product for Etsy and making clothes for Blythe seems like a good idea.  I've been browsing the Internet for the last week or so and am amazed by the doll and its culture/community.  Some people have lots--Lots!--of dolls.

I think I'll be buying a doll (or two), possibly Raspberry Sorbet.

A Doll House for an Old-Fashioned Girl

Although "girl" is certainly stretching the truth!
This is my first real doll house, having constructed cardboard and shoe box dollhouses in my youth.  I bought it today at Chapters, 50 pc off the regular price of $149.  I'm going to look around in second hand stores for suitable furniture.  I plan to take the DH to my class.  I have a lot of Lego and other building toys which the boys like, but not many girls use.  So I thought of a dollhouse.  I also bought three little dolls, which coincidently, have the same names as 3 of my girls.  I know they'll get a kick of this tomorrow when I bring it in.

Last day of Winter Break

Back to work tomorrow, with the prospect of snow, which is always fun for the kids.  Still have to get new tires.  Christmas is all packed up, winter dishes are in the buffet and tomorrow's lunch is in the fridge.

Projects on the go:  lion scarf, chevron cowl, prayer shawl, wristwarmers.
Projects pending:  scarf, slippers, dog sweaters (4), shrug and a new Sock Monkey for school.
